The food at the school I work at is a mix of good and bad. For the teachers dining room, it's pretty much a crapshoot for the hot meal, it could be good and healthy or it could be crap like pizza, but we always have the option of a salad and/or sandwich.

My school is trying to do their part in cutting down on obesity. But it's kinda a joke.

They have rating scales in the unhealthy-ness of it. Either a red light (heart attack on impact) yellow light (not too bad) or green light (good for you). However, it's either red light, or green light. And the green light stuff is like kale, or green beans. And if you've ever seen someone screw up something that is directly manufactured by Sysco, this is it. I don't even wanna try it.

Last year they tried to cut all sodas (and replace them with diet sodas, aka, cancer in a can), and do baked fries instead of fried fries, which isn't a bad idea in my opinion. However, it was poorly executed, and since they couldn't fry them, I guess they just decided to put them in some boiling water to thaw them out and then drain them or something, but it was essentially wet, soggy, potato sticks. That didn't last long. I don't know what made them give up so quick, but I guess sales were down big time.

Don't get me wrong, most of the food is pretty decent, just a tad unhealthy. I usually bring my lunch anyways, I can't stand to throw away money like that on meals that leave you hungry afterwards. I wanna go back to the elementary school days when the food was still alright, and you got a good meal for a buck .40

Yep, most schools in the area do, as we have people (not teachers, sometimes parent volunteers at the elementary school level) that supervise the students during lunch. Most of the teachers at my school either leave campus for lunch or bring thier own.

That's quite a range, I only have to deal with 14-18 year olds, but they can be just as bad, sometimes worse than the younger ones.
