Transporting my Board

Postby siborg » Sat Jul 17, 2004 2:33 pm

Hi there,

I know this will sound a bit naff, but could anyone offer me some advise on getting my surfboard down the M5 on a car with a roof box!!!

Normally I use my wraprax with no problems, but this time, I'm taking the whole family including the dog and there's no room for the wife's extra's unless we take the roof box!!! What is the best way to get the board down with the roof box on?

I've had a go at putting the wraprax on the box, but it doesn't look that safe, so any ideas would be appreciated

Cheers

Ok this is what you do.

Tell the wife to put all the most wanted items in a bag that fits in the car. tell her to pack the rest of the stuff in another bag (or roof box).

When your about to leave just pack your normal stuff, put your board on top the car and go. She will ask "where is all the other stuff" you just say it's there.... (note. woman are dumb she will never know)

 :D

I'll definately be trying that one on my next 2 trips (france & Mexico) as the airline only takes a 15kg luggage allowance and that will definately do the trick for her!!!! Won't bother me though, only need my stick and wetsuit and I'll be happy!!!!!

managed to get down to Newquay with no worries due to father taking ill and not needing the roof rack, always knew rat poison would come in handy for something!!!!!

If that doesn't work it can be done... if its the right shape it is possible to strap it onto the side of the top box.

make sure u have cushionig in place and it is strapped VERY securly!
