Surfing shots, Which cam?

Postby Beachbum » Thu Oct 19, 2006 3:45 pm

I was wondering if you guys know a decent camrea which is not too pricey to take good shots of friends surfing and what not. I want to start taking home made pictures of my friends and I surfing so we know what to improve on :) . Just today I seen an earlier post with awesome pictures anyone know of a pretty good camrea?

Check this out:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Olympus-Mju-720 ... lectronics

I bought one to take to Bali. Waterproof and shockproof and takes brilliant photos.

But wait until next month cos the new one is waterproof up to 10 metres (I think)

Definately wait til you get to Singapore. I bought a Canon video camera at Changi airport on a stopover. Was a lot cheaper than the UK and has an international warranty.

The zoom is OK on the Mju720, but what's even better is if you set it on the highest image quality, when you upload pictures onto your computer the quality is amazing, like having a massive zoom and you can crop the photos how you want.

Hey Pat, do you know the offical date of the next one coming out? How is that one you have from taking shots from the beach. I dont think my parents would trust me taking that out surfing  . How much would that cost in US dollars anyway?

Sorry I got it wrong. This is the one out in October:

http://www.olympus.co.uk/consumer/29_13781.htm

Waterproof to 5m not 10, but it has a drop free lens. That was a bit of a problem taking shots in the water (getting water droplets on the lens)

I think this is a brilliant price :

I think in the U.S the Mju720 was under $300

Heres a shot from the beach:

And then zoomed in on the computer:

No............but it's the same 7.1 megapixels. The only difference is the droplet free lens which would be great for in the water, and waterproof to 5m 8)

Yeah, the picture quality is great!!

The best camera for surfing is one like this:

http://www.ciao.co.uk/Fuji_Single_use_waterproof_camera__5096169

because they're cheap and if you lose it, it's no big deal.

Just get the photos put onto a CD and you can easily photoshop yourself into some decent surf (not that I've ever done anything so dishonest!!)
