Home Brew!

Postby kitesurfer » Tue Oct 17, 2006 6:56 am

Not mearly content with making my own boards, i've recently been busying myself with the production of alcohol. Most of which will be coming into it's best around the time of next years summer.
So with any luck should have a plentlyfull supply of rocket fuel to make the sw meets next year err shall we say interesting.

Here's a list of what i currently have brewing and some that i have intentions to start soon.
I know your all a bunch of addicts of one sort or another on here and am sure some of you will have dabbled in the ancient art of getting wasted on whatever brews you can so feel free to add any recipes or ideas you think might be good. I may even try them out.

Anyhows here's the list:

Already in bottles we have:

Blueberry and raspberry mead
Ordinary mead
Ruhbarb wine
Elderflower wine
Nettle Wine
2 bags of beer hanging off the end of my bed
4ltrs of simple cider (actually we've already drunk this lot)

Currently fermenting we have:

Chilli wine
Sweet crab apple wine
Dry crab apple wine
Vanilla Mead
Cyser (apple mead)
Orange simple cider

Ingredients ready but yet to start we have:

Damson wine,
Grape wine
C****bis wine

Intending to do we have:

Apple jack
and i expect at some point to be trying to distill alcholol in the shaping shack soon so (Will try not to blow up your new board tim)
Moonshine.

Hey kitey.

I brew beer.
Lots of beer.
Anywhere from 3% alcohol (for visitors)...
To 13% (for those special winter nights... technically it's Barley Wine, I suppose).
My "regular" being about 6%.
And ginger beer (5%).
And lemonade (5%).
And similar crap :D

not sure c******s wine would work that well, i think you need an oil based solvent to extract the active ingredient, you can do it with alcohol but it needs to be really strong (most use iso-propyl i have heard, butane does a good job of it too.)

made a tincture from magic mushrooms and whisky once, was good but would be better with something stronger like that 70% absynthe or something. You could probably make wine with them somehow, boil them first or someting? but hurry, the frost is a-coming!

Actually extraction isn't too har, although wasteful.

And ether soak and alcohol sepeartion is supposed to work very well.

Fortunatley not as THC is soluble in alcohol, or so my recipe says. In fact the recipe comes with a warning that it works very well and to be careful.

Hey doug on average how long does your beer take then?

Hey kitey,

It all depends on the recipe and the weather.

The standard in winter (when I sit it on a foam block, wram the rubber heater around it and put a sleeping bag over it) is 5-7 days from pitching the yeast to stabilisation. Then a couple days for the sparkle. And then a minimum of 6 weeks in the cellar... Although I'll admit I often take a sample bottle out every week after four weeks.

Re: THC wine. I have come across a few of those recipes. But I don't know anyone who can actually produce evidence of trying it out. Just stoners going "it's way good, man" :D Back when I was into it cookies were the best value.

Wormwood wine is supposed to be... Interesting.

Well seeing as i'm no longer a stoner i should be able to give an unbiased answer on the subject. Hmm maybe not. Still i intend on taking it to a sw meet next year so will resurect this thread when the time is right and we can have an answer.
