im in san diego and wear a 3/2 wetsuit and its fine for winter. if you gonna go for dwan patrol then maybe you may also need a warm rashie. But i have never needed one.

right now its about 64/66 but in winer it can drop as low as 55 but normally it hangs around the 57/58/59/60/61 in winter. You will see people kitted out in hoods and all the works in winter but generally thats becaus they want a long session or its one of those off days which get little chilly. But go for a 3/2 in socal you dont need anything more really.

I'm in NJ, too.

You can get away with a 3/2 through maybe November. Once that water hits below 55, you're going to want a 5/4/3, along with gloves and boots and hood.

that'll take you from end Nov through April. April, May, maybe June you'lll be in a 3/2 and July through September you can bareback it or at worst a 2/1 rashie if the wind is chilly.

If you're goign to be in Cali, you should be fine with getting a 3/2 and a good rash guard.
