what to wear on a 'date' (sort of)

Postby thaya » Fri Oct 13, 2006 9:23 am

Ok, I met this really nice guy in hospital last month and it turned out that he surfs and lives about 20miles from me. We exchanged numbers and then met up casually and I really like his company (he's well fit too!). We're meeting up for a late lunch tomorrow (saturday) and just hanging out, maybe going for drinks in the evening. What should I wear? HELP!

Casual but still looking like you've made an effort, and you can't beat a bit of cleavage!! (God, I sound like a bloke!)

do you think showing a bit of cleavage this early on is like saying "i'm desperate"? i like him a lot but i don't want him to know how much i like him! maybe i can wear 2 layers so if it's cold i'm ok, and if i feel like revealing a little more, then i've got the option. Oh i'm STRESSING! Am I putting too much thought into it? After all, he's hardly likely to be worrying about what to wear is he? And should i wear trainers or shoes? (i HATE shoes with a passion). maybe jeans and boots with a nice top and a jacket? i don't know. I just don't know. :?

'maybe jeans and boots with a nice top and a jacket?'

i'd go for that, as long as you're comfortable though. if you have a nice jacket you can use that to cover up and then if the date is going well take it off and give him a bit of cleavage

I voted for casual but nice... Something you feel comfortable in, yet still shows that you care about your appearance. Always like to see a bit of self-esteem in a woman myself... (oh, and cleavage too! )

Casual but nice. If its going to be cold but also pub i would wear a vaiation on the following:

Jeans with ugg boots or flip flops, a white vest top (cleavage optional) a big art studenty scarf and some nice dangly earrings, i'd take a hoody too just in case you go for a walk or something.

Good luck and tell us how it goes!

Oh yes and i want more detail than you post here so PM the long version, including what you wear, what you talked about and a more detailed description of him!

:D

PS can you tell its 15 weeks today since i last saw Brent

just casual but nice still. Dont just go in jeans and whatever you can find. Dress in something a little more fancy. I feel so bad about myself when im going to a party or something i just grab a shirt or a pretty polo and jeans.

Go for either the tartan shawl for the mature look or the green mask and horns for the up for a laugh look.

Depends on where you are gifted, how much you like him and the climate of the night :)

Low cut?

Short skirt?

But don't mix the two!

I had a really nice time  enough said

i ended up wearing dark blue jeans with smartish white trainers, a nice matching belt and handbag and a very tight white top with a little bit on show, and a hoodie which came in handy for a long walk by the beach.

thanks for all the tips

so he's a litttle bit younger than me (25) but full of energy. he's got a lovely cheeky smile. he's about 5"8 has gorgeous dark brown hair and brown eyes which you just melt into.

I realised the second I saw him that actually i have a HUGE crush on him. I feel like a teenager again.

I did a bit of a bridget jones, went all giggly and talked alot of crap. he must have thought I was a lunatic!

We chatted about all sorts and spent most of the day together. Obviously there's things I'm NOT going to tell you lot!

Hope that's enough detail for you libby! I'm gonna pm you anyway.

now here's another question...

how long should i wait for him to call me before i call him?

it's such an effort this whole dating thing isn't it. I might give it a few days and then call. what do you think?

I think the standard is 2 full days to 3 days. then a call to check up on how things are going and, oh - hey - I'm meeting up with a group of my mates on Friday at this pub if you wanted to drop by.

Yey for Thea!

Thanks for the PM chuck, sounds like all is going well. Dont stress about when to call - thats all just mind games and people making things more complicated than they need to be. If you feel like calling him then call him! And then call me and tell me how it went!
