Without a doubt it wood have to be Mr. Howie Lyon. This dude is the coolest guy I've ever meet. When I bought my first board he use to give me a hard time about riding a fun shape. He's hard core longboard all the way. I gave in , and went out and bought a 10' tri stringer from the same shaper that shapes all his boards. First wave I caught on it, I look over, and theres Howie giving me a big thumbs up. I use to surf behind his house all the time, and he was always on the beach.

If you get time read about him on the link below. He is one in a million. Read it to find out why.

My local hero has to be mark aka grom from fluid concept.

sh!t hot surfer and all round nice guy. last time i saw him he came flyin down the line jumped of the back of the wave grabbed his board in mid air and set off paddling again.

i think most people around the scarborough area know him in some way or another.

i heard he entered a contest in the southwest n his heat started he satyed sat on the beach. when someone asked him why he wasnt in the sea he replied ill only need 10 mins. then went off and won his heat..... classic. dunno if its true though or i may have the wrong person
