Newquay what a place!

Postby jacker-man » Tue Jul 27, 2004 10:19 pm

Went to Newquay yesterday, Fistral beach what a place, allthough the surf was not amazing it was good for the onshore winds that were coming in and flatening the waves a little, instead of surfing here we moved onto Perenporth (apologies if spelt wrong!) which was preety much the same as Fistral so off we went, waxed up our sticks put the suits on and surfed away. Caught a few bigish waves so was preety happy with the session. I WILL be making another few trips and staying for a week or so a little later on in the summmer.........The surf can only get better! Anyway just thought id share this little one day long surf trip with you! :D Please tell me about your surf stories and any good places you know off.... Thanks

Hi there

Yup, Fistral is good, but I think there are better places if you look!

Try Sennen Cove next to Land's End - The beach is more sheltered by the point and it picks up any swell going, also at one end of the beach it will be 1 ft and the other it can be 8ft. so you can paddle out in small waves, surf big waves back in!!

Hey Sinista,

Yup! Remember you were telling me all about Sennen ages ago? Well I went and you're right it's gorgeous! Didn't see any dolphins though....But unfortunately (as you will know if you've already read my littke ranting session about summer flatness - sorry!) there were still very few and mushy waves :( Oh well, it was made up for by the loveliness of the place :)

So yeah...everybody, go check it out! Though obviously don't all go at once or it would get kinda trashed...as is typical with lots of the nice Cornish beaches these days.

Yeah man, i doubt it was 15 foot mate! sennen rocks tho, i will agree with that, it picks up any swell going as its the most west facing beach in cornwall! cool lil surf shop there too!!
