Surfing wind swells...

Alright guys, here's the problem...
...I'm from Ventura (CA) and was an avid long-boarder back home. Problem is, you go where the money is, right? I now live in Utah, b/c the job supports my wife and son. BUT...there's no ocean.

Has ANYONE tried to surf on storm swells on lakes? I've heard that 30mph wind will generate 4'-5' swells on some of the more shallow lakes, which should really be fine on a longboard. Not much shape or energy, but it's better than sitting at home watching Blue Torch re-runs.

Best thing you can do is get out there in them..

If you spend enoiugh time studiing the ways when your out there you shoud see the shapes of the waves that have ben wipped up from the far side of the lake... thats going to be the best to look for as it will be the firthest traveled and will harber a tad more power.. Watch for when the meet with the chop and take off from there...

tbh is a case of being in the right place at the right time.
