am i too big

hey i got a 6ft5 custom shotboard and im a fairly big guy around the same size as the board.I been surfing only four times and im just learning to stand up on this board but i just wanna know if im 2 big for it or not and wondering whether perhaps to get a larger one

If you are learning and large, trade up to 7'6"+ easier to paddle catch& waves still able to turn. Scale down as you become a ripper!!! :wink:

Yea, your probably a little big to be learning on that. The bigger the board the better for learning. when I started to learn I was about 200 pounds and I started on a 7'6" and then switched over to an 8'4", but that was on fresh water, less buoyant. If you are the same height as your board, you will probably have a lot of problems progressing through the initial learning stage when your body is developing the appropriate neuro-muscular responses to everything from paddling to riding. Get a bigger board, it is easier for your body to adapt to... Once your body has adapted and formed the neuropathways required for this sport, then move to a shorter, more performance oriented board to further your skill development.
