i was thinking...

Postby thaya » Mon Sep 11, 2006 9:50 am

I'd just like to share with you all my joy in being alive :D It's just so amazing don't you think? I mean one minute you're here, the next you're not. Im just having one of those moments. It's mind blowing stuff. It's just great to think I'm a little part of this universe. I was looking at the moon last night, down at the beach in Hastings, and it was just awesome. I sat there for hours (getting hypothermic) and it was just sooooooooooo amazing. It's just so strange to think I might never have been born and I might not even exist right now. I'm getting all confused wondering who I am and what I'm doing with my life. I wish I could stop thinking about all this stuff. I was teaching a new lot of little Yr7's earlier today and it really hit me that I'm a teacher. I'm their teacher. They see me like I saw my teachers. Isn't that weird? Unless of course they think I'm a complete lunatic, which I think they do because I waffled on for ages about random stuff and they looked at me as if I needed locking up in a mental asylum. Nevermind. I suppose I'm just shocked that I'm a teacher. It's only taken me 5 years to realise this (maybe I'm a bit slow). My brain's gone into overdrive and is about to crash. You know what, maybe I should just shut up and go and get some chocolate. Maybe chocolate is THE answer to everything. Hmmmm... better get to the machine before all the kids. It'll be empty by break I expect.

ooh no...not again..please STOP!

Only kidding  I sometimes get those moments of clarity, where you feel like such an insignificant spec. Then it all blurs back and I end up on a beach with lots of beer bottles the next day

My old secondary is just down the road from me, and I have to pass it everyday on my way to work. Was stuck in traffic watching all the TINY year 7's heading there with huge backpacks, looking completely and utterly scared out of their wits. Then remembered that 13 years ago it was me heading off for my first day at secondary  Makes you feel really old when you see them like that.

My two most hated lessons at school were Science and maths. Couldnt understand why they made us do them, after all, who needs a Science or Maths GCSE . For 6 years I ran a photolab - dealing with chemicals. Left the lab and started full time at the cab company - im now in charge of the accounts and office. I saw my old Science teacher a couple of years ago and she asked what I was upto, and I couldnt help but go bright red when I told her, never felt like a bigger twat!! Then I took my dog to the vet last week, and my old Maths teacher was in the waiting room. She asked how long ago it was that I left school - didnt look too impressed when I told her that im the same age now as she was when she was teaching me (or trying to!!). Poor cow got stuck with the bitch of a 15 year old me in her first post qualification job! Course, it was her turn to laugh when I told her what im doing now.

thanks for sharing that with us. 8) there isn't one meaning to life, but it's almost certain that life has a whole lot of meaning. sounds like you've discovering that. and if you're an avid surfer, you've already found out most of it ;)

Source = Uknown (its very old though of indian orign and much of the translation is lost)

actually i was at work when I wrote that. no herbs in sight (or should I say smell). don't worry, I often have random times like that when the whole world just seems a little bit confusing and strange

I had a moment like that, though mine was a bit more... distressing at the time. After a good sesion last sunday (most spectacular wipeout yet, I was truly grizzlebombed!), we were heading back when there was a car accident on the oter side of the road... Someone died... and yes, I was really upset at the time. But you know, it's given me a fresh outlook now. This life is so... fragile... who knows what will happen tomorow? And I know this sounds emo and depressing, but it isn't really. Well, it depends on your perspective. But now I'm taking more joy in life.. I got up for a dawnie yesterday, but it was flat... but it didn't matter! The sunrise was beautiful, and I'm alive, and everything's great!

Ramble mode disengaged

Thaya, do you have a white board in your classroom, maybe too much smell from the markers, it can really go to your head.
I had a training session this afternoon for a new computer system at the school, the classroom was freezing, felt like going outside several times just to defrost. Plus my classroom is always cold no matter how I adjust.
I have a lot of complaints about math and how they will ever use it in the real world... I just say that you by learning math you are learning how to learn, which will help you learn to do whatever career you want to do.
