Exciting weather for the UK!

Postby drowningbitbybit » Wed Sep 13, 2006 9:17 am

While looking at all the charts for this weekend's incoming swell, this popped up on Metcheck

"During this afternoon, the air will reside across Western France and as it's heated up, so storms will break out. The interesting factor comes as a convergence zone develops and pushes North. As this happens, so lower level circulation will start and a small area of low pressure will form.

There is potential for water spouts, funnel clouds and perhaps isolated tornadoes across Southern England tonight on the leading edge of the storms.

All in all, a very active 24 hours of weather coming up for Southern, Central and Eastern areas with a substantial risk of heavy rainfall, local flooding and strong gusty winds. With the small, but potent risk of super cells developing within the convergence zone, this will be where our attention is focussed."

Ooh, exciting :D

That were last saturday - it was the biggest spring tide in 20 odd years. As well as the normal tidal cycle, there's a 4.5 year cycle, and then another even longer cycle, and last saturday the cycles all combined to give the biggest tidal swing in a long time.

But it passed without incident as fortunately it was a flat weekend - if there'd been a storm then it would've got exciting on the coast

But it didnt.... tide came in (a lot)... tide went out (a lot)... :D
