Question

Postby thawkwood » Sat Sep 09, 2006 2:12 am

Me and my surfing buddy were out today, me on my Premier 7'2" and he on his BiC 9'0" rental. Toward the end we'd paddle on these nice sized shoulder height waves, get carried by them and start to pop up. However this tended to result in being barreled end over end under water, rather than the nice ride we'd expect. My buddy suspected we were positioned too far forward on our boards. I wonder if that was the case?

well it depends why you fell. If you nosedived ito the water then yes. If you fell back then you would probably need to bend your legs more

yeah, sounds like you were doing well to catch them and get up, so thats cool.

I remember a day when I was first surfing where I just continued to nose dive, or fall off backwards when i was surfing green waves. I don't know how I got over that, but its just one of those things, and just a stage you go through...you are obviously just experimenting with your board and through this you're learning where the right position is. I wouldn't be surprised if next time or so it just falls into place, so don't worry too much.
