You're so lucky... I've always wanted to live by the sea... surfing's just come into the equation... How much, just out of interest... not like its gonna happen...

Why isn't it gonna happen?! Just go and do it! There is life here you know...you can get a decent job...other people live here as well....we have doctors surgeries and schools and stuff! Ha ha....

I pay £650 a month for my little flat. I love it. It's very expensive though, but rent in newquay is just extravagent compared to the rest of the county. :x

ive noticed too get good a surfing you dont want to be scared of falling and not paniquing. Im a begginer and i surfed two weeks (5 hours a day!! heck yes!) and i took lessons and i got up and stayed on somewhat turning the first hour and a half. Some people are scared and end up not even standing or panic while they do it. I personnaly am not scared of the water and used to boogyboard (just going straight nothing fancy). Ive tried two meter waves and after a couple fails, once the leash almost made me drown (tied my feet toghether) i managed to catch a 2 meter (6 foot) wave straight on a 7.3 bic. I was so proud! I was riding a pretty big wave and paniqued dropping in, i ended up failing while turning to follow the wave. It was sooooo perfect im still pissed. Now i bought a 6.6 shortboard and love it, not being scared is super important. After 2 weeks and 4 sessions i can now take unbroken waves, follow em and go up and down on em, im working on cutbacks but only get small waves (no big waves here, im missing out on some now, waaa)
so the moral of the story is. If your scared it will take longer, if you are not scared it will be easier.
Also Try to get the wave before it breaks from the near begging (once you can stand up)

i have been surfing for just under 1.5 months and can pop-up on an unbroken wve, trim and ocationally cutback, i shot the pier for the first time my hands were shakin though. However thats not because im great its because i live right next to the beach throw a rock and i hit the pier so im in everyday allday (my job allows it) so 1.5 months having this seriouse sessions i actually feel my progress has been slower than xpected. Its all about confidence if you want my opinion and familuarity. every learns at a different speed just cause you quick now doesnt mean the slower ones wont drop you in the dust when they find their feet. So dont worry idratherbesurfing keep ya eyes on the goals the rest will come in good time.

Nice achievements iomarti.

Ps i used to live in a flat in kent whitstable along the coast that cost me 650 pounds sheesh i live in san diego and pay $900 so it works out the same lol. Bugger.

i know what you mean there....

everystep of the way you're looking towards the next one, and sometimes don't stop and appreciate what you're doing at the moment...

like i am stoked about my bottom turn, its well exciting...but now i'm obssessed with cut backs, watching people do them, wishing i could, etc...

I think we're all constantly setting new goals and forgetting where we came from sometimes. And yes, it is all about time in the water, and practising on the right waves. Imagine, if i surfed all day, everyday on waves that were 3ft and clean?! I'd be much better....as opposed to the choppy mess that i've just been surfing in and as i get out of the water it starts to clean up and get some shape, and i'm gutted because i can't go back in again till fleshin tuesday as i'm going on a family holiday. :(

JQ iam an internet marketer/web designer. so i usually work till 2am in the morning so i can spend the rest of the day beaching it. ( dont feel sad i work my balls off  )

It also has a lot to do with surf conditions like iomarti said if it was perfect all the time we would all be a lot better. Like yesterday the surf was perfectly glassy and around 3-5ft i felt like i really could do this thing called surfing  but i know it wont last.
