bottom turn

I have a picture of me bottom turning but i look like a complete moron when I do it. Can you guys look at it and tell me what I'm doing wrong and how to fix it!

ok i think you need to have a bit more weight on your front foot, and have you tryed having the board out wider and you closed to the wave so your straight, instead of crouching and looking like your gunu pull a mooni.

I think you just need to surf somewhere where the sun doesnt shine on your butt as you bottom turn :wink:

yea, definately more weight on the front foot and dont lean over as far

Yeah - you're stalling and digging the rail to turn, instead of keeping the weight even and shifting your hips.

Also, try holding your hands in front of you like you're holding a machine gun, and don't let your arms go flying out all over the place to keep your balance. (a trick I learned snowboarding and transfered to surfing)

It'll force you to work on your center balance instead of relying on your arms to compensate for bad form. Then later on, when you want to throw something really hard down, you can start using your arms.

I don't pretend to be a great surfer or anything..... in fact I'm quite a crap one, but here's a picture of me doing a bottom turn which might show a bit better how you have to lean more forward.
