Good ol' Mr Zogs

Postby Bwgan » Tue Aug 22, 2006 8:03 pm

Just given my board the best wax job I've done. Way from perefct, but got the little beads of wax. Used X cold to cold and cold to cool Sex wax and I felt the cold to cool was harder than X cold??? It beats having two inches of thick mess, after scraping the wax off I had a mega ball of old wax. I think I'm going to call him Wilson like good old Tom Hanks

LOL :D

I love creating a perfect wax job on my board. Hate removing the old wax though. The Warmer temp wax will be harder than the colder temp wax. E.g Cold Water Wax = Soft Wax, Warm Water Wax = Hard Wax

You should have used the Cold to Cool as your base coat, and then the Extra Cold to Cold on top. But I dont think it should matter too much as the sea is about 17c which is ideal for cool water wax.

Were did you get the 'base coat' from? I couldn't find any to buy, not even online. I wanna try some 'famous' surf wax too, heard thats good and you can also get a basecoat for that.

Oh and have you noticed you can only get crappy quick humps in South Wales?I aint seen any Original Zogs.

LOL there is a shop my way with a similar vibe, if your blonde with big tits in a bikini they give you everything on the house, but being a bloke who is learning and doesn't live on a flat in the dunes then "I go there to buy piss off"

I got the wax from Big Wednesday down in Cornwall over the net though.

I read a page saying to put your hardest wax on first then the softer one. Having said that, I read one saying to keep your wax in the fridge then another saying to keep your wax warm by pouring warm water on it?!?!?!?

Ye Big Wednesday is good cause its free p&p but they only have cool - tropical water wax. How did you get yours?
...and ye its hardest wax as the basecoat. I aint heard of putting it in the fridge to keep cold and pouring warm water on to keep hot. The temp refers to the sea temp.

i dont like the guy who runs the place, he doesnt give a xxxxx about surfing he just wants to make money, i know lots of people whove gone in there asking advice and been sold gear completely inappropriate for their ability (and more expensive than what they should have got). And hes a grumpy flesher.

I don't bother with a base coat. I just use the appropriate temperature wax. Put it on inside in a cool room (not too warm/hot). You don't need to keep it in the fridge, but it might help if the air is too warm where you are applying the wax.

Don't pour warm/hot water on it. Bad idea...bad...bad...bad. The wax will get all melty and just smear across the board.
