Postby china0572 » Wed Jul 07, 2004 5:52 pm

I am a new user on the website,, so hello to all. I usually surf in ocean city maryland and am making a weekend trip to long island. Anyone know of any surf spots that are not to local..and also times people are allowed to surf?

I just spent the 4th of July weekend in East Quogue (part of the Hamptons) there was no problem sufing off the public beaches at any time. Locals tend to go early or late when the beach crowd dies down.

Good beginner waves and the others in the line up were really nice.

Sadly, no...

What I have found that works is heading off to a local surf shop and just asking for advice. People are usually pretty helpful, especially if you make it clear you are a beginner and don't want to hack off locals. People loveto talk about themselves and what they do. Ask! You'll get tons of info...

~ oh I found the water warm but I am from Massachusetts and surf New Hampshire (54 degrees). You may want a long sleeved rash guard, or even a shorty...
