Wich is the better beginner board?

All surfing hardware topics here. Boards, leashes, racks, wetsuits, boardies, surfgear, ding repair, wetsuit repair, surf wax...... you get the idea

It seems we've concluded that the "fish" board in topic really isn't a fishboard as much as a long and wide shortboard with slight swallow tail!

Hence the question becomes more like, which is the better beginner board - either a smaller funboard, or a bigger shortboard.... ? :)

i think a fish is short and fat but i never knew it had to have 2 fins

Yep a real retro fish is short, as in is supposed to be shorter than the person riding it, its wide point (i think) is a few inches forward of the middle. Generally they have lots of vloume in the nose. they also have two keel fins with no toe-in whatsoever (i.e dead straight) and a swallow tail. Thats what I have been lead to believe constitutes a real fish, like Brents twin fin. He also has a hybrid fish which is just a short fat thruster with a swallow tail and more volume than your average performance board.
