San Fran to LA, LA to mexico

Postby rizzel » Thu Aug 03, 2006 10:43 am

hey all,

im travelling to america in late november this year. i will be in san fran early decemeber with 6 other 21 year old guys and we all surf. we are driving down to l.a and i know there are heaps of beaches along the way so i thought i would ask advice on where to go and rent boards ect. we have 7 days to do the drive so we have plenty of time to stop wherever. from there we are flying down to cancoon and are going to be staying in cancoon, playa del carmen and the surrounding areas for 2 weeks, just wondering how feesable a surf in that area would be, i know most of the surf spots are in baja or down near acapulco and thats cool coz we can travel accross to there if you think its worth the trip. any advice at all would be great including good bars or towns or places to party as well as surf. cheers guys

Wetsuit definitely required, especially if the water temperature in your part of Australia is over 70 degrees and you're accustomed to surfing it.

definately need a wetsuit at that time of the year. Big waves along the coast anywhere, especially if there is a storm approaching, just have to keep an eye out for sewage warnings.
As for renting a board the average is probably somewheres around $20US or so per day. Surf shops are all over the place, basically head to a pier and turn around and there will probably be a surf shop.
