How do you keep the stoke going

Postby isaluteyou » Wed Aug 02, 2006 7:38 am

I have to take a couple days off surfing  i gashed my foot on one of the fins its a pretty deep cut so i need to keep it out of the water :(

What do you do to keep the stoke going when you arent surfing/bbing/body surfing etc. This will be the first time in six months since i have been out of the water arghhhhhhh

i know how you feel..i recently fracture one of my toes (2nd from the end on my right foot) its just such a nagging injury (well 2 weeks...) that I just go out anyway...I mean, my foot hurts like hell afterwards, but its fun during the short time I am up on the wave. try taping the wound up, see how it is when you walk on it...practice a few popups in your living room and if you can do that...id say hit the beach anyway. but then again, dont let it get infected :?

Yes, definitely watch the surfing vids. On one of the high definition channels, they keep showing "Step into Liquid" and "Endless Summer's 1&2" almost 1 time each week. I TIVO them everytime and my kids and I watch them over and over and they never get old. I think I've surpassed the number of times I've seen Star Wars now.

I have descided to take the time to finish up my work projects so that when my foot heals i can take a week off work  so instead of spending 3 hours at the beach i can spend all day

Oh well, at least we're all mutual on that little fact of swallowing sea water!

I've got to take some time out too as I cracked my big toe last time I went when dismounting from the board (somewhat dramatically  ).

Needless to say, I'm itching to get back in the water but I'd probably just increase my time out by making it worse if I tried.

i managed a session today but i was recomended this stuff called liquid bandage wchich is a water tight sealant i used it on the scab so it doesnt become moist and crumble off worked a treat i checked it out with the local lifeguards and they said it should be fine.

mmmm unless you fancy getting some horrid flesh eating disease i would stay out of the water with an open wound as log as a scab has formed its fine but then you dont want to get it wet or it will fall off so use liquid skin or water tight plasters.

As for my session went great waves were a little bit big for me as im still a begineer its no fun death dropping a 6ft face

xxxxx I had a massive open wound last time I went. Its healed now luckily, mabe it was fine because I am in really cold water?? I had a wetsuit on but that just made it worse because it was rubbing the scab making it come off :x
