whats the deal with these here artificial reefs? it strikes me that as soon as theres swell, everybody with a board is going to be there. are they planning to make the take off area big enough to handle serious crowds?

well thats the worst problem, i recon our localism anger levels will go up so there will be a bit more yelling probably. but we hardely evey get any swell so it will only be packed probably evey 2 months when we get a decent swell, evey other day it will make cr@p 2ft chop a bit bigger and had more shape to the wave.

but its been put off for so long it wont be finished till end of 2007 so in government turms thats like end of 2008

Thats about the size of it

The one they're supposedly building at Boscombe is gonna be a fairly long way out, so its gonna be a longer paddle than your average kook can make. BUt still gonna be crowded

Also, there's a lot of discussion whether it'll work on the south coast at all - to jack up and be a proper reef break, it needs proper groundswell which happens so rarely on the south coast that its not going to work very often, if at all :?

We'll see... eventually...

Well The Restormel council has been saying they might do this for about 15 years now so i dunno if its ever gunna happen. I was down there last week and it was that awful 1ft beach break on fistral again. they sure need to do something. Otherwise i spend my time at Mawgan Porth.

heh yeah. bout 2 weeks ago i was stood on the headland and could see a basking shark not too far out. When i was in the water i could see the fin sticking out. It was like a board moving through the water vertically.
