Went out today for my only surf of the week, Wollongong was glassy 2-3 ft perfect offshore breeze holding the waves up , After reading paddling advice from other posts I used jennys method of paddling in an s shape motion sort of scooping underneath the board and found myself cruising along a lot more smoothly, steadily and with a lot less effort in previous sessions i found myself flailing around a lot and gettin tired very quickly, i have now realised long steady strokes and good positioning is key, Im a big guy , balance isnt really my strong point and i ride a 7'6 funboard in prrevious sessions I found myself on 7 out of 10 waves thinking the wave had picked me up and poppin to my feet only to drop of the back , this got very frustrating after the tips from here i changed my paddling technique and managed to score a couple of nice waves gettin to my feet, I still have a long way to go but there was some definite progress today, just wanted to say I appreciate all the experienced surfers sharing there knowledge on this forum u guys have helped me a lot , hopefully surf with u down at nth wollongong bch if ur ever in Australia. SURfiNG IS THE SOURCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

good to know we can be of help!!! you're definately right with the long paddle strokes! its much easier to get the board moving quickly with long hard strokes than short fast ones. looks better too :P
