Board Patterns/Designs

Postby Seabiscuit » Thu Jul 20, 2006 3:07 am

Hi, I'm not a surfer but I need information & I was hoping someone could help. I'm writing a story on Fanfiction & the next chapter is consisting of surfing into a fortress. Yes, I'm aware it's a crazy idea. I just need to know what the typical designs on boards are. Like colors & shapes. Do any boards have animals on them? Flowers? I really could use some answers. & anything else I would need to know to not make a really dumb mistake. (Which I do that a lot, but that's besides the point.) Thanks!

You can have pretty much anything you want on a board.

Lots of different colors on spray jobs (various patterns), or just color on the rails, or all solid.
or, Pictures (actual or air-brushed).

I've seen stars, flowers, skulls, flames, octopus, mermaids, half-naked chicks, a devil, dragons, Bob Marley...anything.

The board is your canvas.

in the 80s it was luminous patterns,
in the 90s people wanted their boards plain white with maybe a few logos on them,
now the trend seems to going back towards colour, lots of solid single colours and patterns, and the fabric type patterns (usually those flower things surf brands like to put everywhere)
Personally i miss the eighties flourescent boards, and the matching flouro shorts and war paint.
