This is weird.

I have an electronic key. And a spare electronic one. And a backup mechanical key :)

The backup goes in a keypouch. The electronic one inside the car.

No problem.

where i live, the people that wear acdc shirts are usually genuine acdc and rock n roll fans.
where i live, the "chavs" are guys that wear skate shoes with reeeeaaallly loose laces and big tongues, sweat bands and trucker caps or those caps that have flat brims. its alright to wear stuff like skate shoes if you're a skater or sweat bands if you're playing sport, but these people think they look cool...

or they wear basketball shoes even when they're not playing basketball

My Two Cents (Or two schillings)

Postby thawkwood » Mon Aug 07, 2006 4:31 am

One thing I do when surfing or swimming is put all my valuables into the trunk of my car. I put the keys into a waterproof pouch that is attached to my swimming trunks inside a zippered pocket and I just walk across the street barefoot or with beat up old flip flops, my swimming shorts, and rashie...

there are waterproof pockets on the market but sadly i would'n recomemd any ! the 2 iv tried have both ended up with my phone drowning ,i even purchased a waterproof m p 3 pocket thing and that did'n work either. As for the thefts , 2 of my buddies had there wet suits stolen this summer from the lodge they were staying in ! its not just beaches n carparks , THE CHAVS STOP AT NOTHING ! so i too am in favour of putting theire p sized heads on sticks ! :D

I am a big fan of putting my electronic key in the boot and taking the backup (mechanical - no electronics) into the water... Tied to me via leash pocket, whatever.

So I hate to say this, but it sounds like you have no alternative but to get a keypod or somthing similar.

read this thread you posted in, theres a few devices for safely storing electronic keys in here.

I wouldnt recommend leavign the key in the car unless you have somewhere good to hide it in the car, as anyone breaking a window to steal your stuff will find they have a key to de-immobilse your cara and drive it away. (not ideal when you come out of the sea in winter to find your car is gone and you have no way to get home)

My car also uses an electronic fob -- I got a waterproof pack here:

http://www.aquapac.net/usstore/
(I have the "Keymaster" -- under the "Multipurpose" section)

It just slips down the back of my wetsuit. Like others have said, it kind of feels weird at first, but once you get in the water you totally forget about it. I've had it for about 3 years so far, and still works perfectly.

Umm....I know this is an old post and the guy is probably gone forever, but what happens when your battery is dead

I know my bro's battery was so dead that his rear-window wouldn't unlock because it's electric...however he had a key hole in the door

Benefits of good ol metal keys..stuff it in your wetsuit and when you bail have it embed into your skin! no fear of losing it then. Hmm could try that with electronic keys I suppose. Get a pocket surgically created in your skin.

Yes I am sick minded, get used to it!

denko

Second the post about Denko - used mine in all conditions with an electric key and never had any trouble. In fact, I accidentally put a hole in it when trying to get me key out and its still watertight!!!
I found a brilliant cheap option the other day tho - I used a police drugs evidence bag which is a plastic bag with an adhesive seal at the top. Worked a treat (lost my Denko). Probably not an option to most - unless you're a copper or happen to know one!
