For the fun of it

Postby Stylemaster » Sun Jul 02, 2006 2:13 am

Dunno why. I ride both short and long but always seem to smile more on my log. Maybe because I ride it when the waves are smaller and everyone is smiling. When I shortboard it is much more competitive/dog eat dog. Longboards have more of a fun family/community feel :D where as shortboards seem to be more about attitude. Yeah jammin it of the tail or snappin one under the lip is where its at but put me on the nose anyday, hell everyday. Goin out to but me shortie now....LOL

Hmmm, hard to say. You have to be good to surf a log in big waves.

 I tried surfing in head high hollowish waves with a 9'2" single fin..It didn't work out so good!! Kept going over the falls because the board wouldn't hold at that pop-up area, kept sliding down or slowing and riding up and over.

Now if that made any sense, feel free to reply!

Dec,

Better off on a progressive longboard (single, thruster or 2+1 setup) in overhead+ waves.

That said my 9'6" single goes OK in overhead... But you won't be taking the high line unless you like going through the rinse cycle.

Your pop-up is gonna be further back because you are pretty much taking the drop on a bigger board.

Bonga Perkins, Dino Miranda, Andrew Logreco, Rusty Kealana and many other Hawaiians regularly ride 9'+ boards in overhead+ surf...

While I don't proclaim to be a fearless big wave rider I find it easier to get into solid waves on my 9'2 progressive than my 6'4. You can get in and set up much easier. The reason I usually ride my shortie in solid conditions is because of the duckdive factor. Just easier to get out I find. At beach breaks anyway.

From what I've read in my bird's mags girth is in, so can you get extra wide boards?

Your bird is into extra wide girth????

If that really is your bird in the 'babe of the day' thread, I'm sure she can handle the girth

Pat my friend, if she were my bird I would have to strap my longboard to my back to save me from a catastrophic tradgedy! The only man to fall into a pussy and drown!

One day, this woman gets a phone call, from her Husbands work (the local brewery) to say that he's fallen into a vat of beer and drowned!

"Oh my god, did he suffer much?" she asks,
"We don't think so" his boss says - "he got out three times to go to the toilet!"

A place called the Cadillac Cafe, they have a beach scene and so we lent them a few boards.
