Hello, I am a newbie....

Have a chat about any general surfing related topics.

Didn't see any introduction threads, so sorry if I missed them... Anyway, Im a newbie as well! But I beat you all, cos I'm a newbie at absolutely everything, both to the forums AND at surfing  Erm, yeah. Well, this is getting a bit to informal for a first post, so I'll try and cut it out.

Been messing about in the water for years, but this has been the first summer I've really made an effort to start surfing. Been out a load, bought my own board, and been on a couple of sunrise surfs.

Anyway, this place looks great and friendly, and I just wanted to say hi!

Hi! How are you all doing? :D

Hi welcome to the forum. The 'introduce yourself' is in General Chat. Anyhow glad you have decided to get into surfing and have joined the forum. Everyone on here is friendly and cool (except for maybe pat42 sometimes lol, just kidding pat.) and will help you with any questions.

So what board have you got?

A NSP 7ft2... She's beautiful... well, she is to me anyway :D
I've been using my mates 6'8 all summer, and I got my own board this morning. Her maiden surf will be around 4.30am on sunday...

By the way, I do have to add, I am a total grom. Remember that when I say anything stupid :P

Hehe, thanks Laguna. Yep, aiming for around 4.30... I have a pretty hectic life most of the time, so propper dawn sessions are the best time for me. There doesn't seem to be any good surf round my local area for a while, so I'll drive down to the south coast of Wales.
For the summer solstice, I got up at 3.09am, drove for around an hour and had a beautiful surf along with two good mates; all catching waves as the sun came up... I love my dawnies :D

There will be waves all week on the Gower. I will be out every day, so may see you depending on where you go. As for Sunday High Tide is around 5:30am, so would suit you.

If it helps, when I started out I bought these 2 books, and I learned sooo much - everything you need to know about starting surfing and more!!

Thanks for the forecast and reading list. Looking forward to sunday big time, and I'll order the books as soon as I can :D Might see you sunday then, you'll know me if you see me: I'll be the one with the sparkly board, a big smile, and the inability to surf :P

lol thats what its all about, having fun. Both the books are similar but I bought them both when I started because they both explain different things better. Either way getting one of them or both will be a good investment

Thanks mate.... for information, I am sitting naked after coming back from windsurfing, chatting to people on MSN who are unaware that I am naked!
