Hey Earthgirl, I dont want to scare you or anything, but be real careful in BCN.

Dont let your stuff out of sight, either when you're sightseeing or on the beach and dont get too drunk and lose your way around the old town at night.

When you're wandering about, keep your daypack in front of you especially on the metro. If you wear it on your back they slice them open, take all your stuff and you wont even know. There's LOADS of 'petty' crime in BCN. Funny how they call it petty crime if you get robbed by knifepoint of all your money, cards and passport!

Leave your valuables in the hotel safe!!!

And like PapaWoolacombe says you could get a wave in Barcelonetta or for better beaches (less polluted) and a beautiful town, get the train (couple of euros) to Sitges, about half an hour south of BCN

Cool.

Since surferpants seems to have abandoned this thread, I'm gonna hijack her idea...

What I'll probably do is go mid june and come back mid August. (I have to come back to start fire service training (hopefully - one stage of selection left) )

I'll be looking for company, there may be a few of my IRL friends along but the more the merrier. If anyone is interested PM me and I'll keep you posted.

I`m looking to head to that area and maybe Morocco in October/November - when do you have to start putting on the boots and gloves in South France/North Spain?
