There are none in England at the moment, there are only a few in Europe - one in Italy, one in Germany etc.... only 27 in the world and I think 8 are in the USA.

We are currently looking at the possibility of installing one in Tynemouth, near Newcastle. Do you anticipate there would be demand for such a facility? Would you and your mates travel up to use it?

Hey babyboarder, bo to the link surf patrol put on this thread. That has it all, or just go to their site: http://www.flowrider.com

That is kind of strange, but seems great.

How much would the ride be and how much time for each person?

I think i agree with Phil. If it was going to be 15 seconds and a long wait in line i wouldn't go... Specialy cause the good thing about it is the "endless wave", so you could carve the thing up for a looong time.

For skaters it would be cool too because there is no need to go back uphill and no need to roadrash and bonebreaking etc...

They look well sweet i don't know if i could be bothered to go to one though it would be good in places milage away from the coast. They would still cane if you fell off because its only a thin layer of water.

From South Africa and got one at my local break!!! Soooo much fun and the best thing to do when there is no surf! Hard at first but get used to it pretty easily.... should build one in london! Would make a killing!!!! Got sooo many mates in london that are stuck for transport out of london so they would use it 24/7.... i know i would as used to back home and i lived on the beach.... i reckon we need one in london! Its got the people to support it and get it going and it will always be busy!!!

Later...

I would defo travel to Tyne mouth to ride a flowrider, provided i got at least 30mins to an hour on it. If it was a for a few mins until i fell then to the back of the queu, no way. Also thats a bit far north. Maybe something more central, B'ham maybe.

They are cool, but there's no way you'd get even 10 mins on it - think about it from a business point of view, you would only have 6 paying customers per hour on it!!

The only way you'd make the capital back would be to charge something like £150 for 10 mins!!

It's bound to be a case of you queue for it, then you get on it, have about 10-15 seconds - maybe 30 if you're lucky. If you bail, you're off anyway.

I think I remember seeing somewhere that they can pulse more water down it to make you fall!!

Basically I think it would be cool, but expensive!

I actually think that if you could find a little section of fast flowing river and build a ramp, you could build your own!!

I've wanted to do that, but it's not really practical for me... and you'd get washed downstream and get eaten by rocks.

I heard about one being built in Bedford an hour north of London. Its indoors so looks like it could be good for the winter months!

I saw it here http://www.bodyflight.co.uk
