want to hear something gross?

Postby iomarti » Mon Jun 19, 2006 9:44 pm

It was midday on Towan beach in Newquay last week, and some kids were bodyboarding.. They saw something float near them and weren't sure what it was. Sensibly, they went to get a lifeguard, who promptly came over. The lifeguard started freakin out, the kids asked what it was and the lifeguard said 'ah, you don't wanna know...'

yeah you got it, it was a dead, decomposing, human body with a real stench. Grim.

Seems it was a guys body, 30s, not being treated as suspsicious.

I don't know how I'd take it if I was surfing and a dead body floated by, to be honest, I'm not sure if I'd be surfing again.

And those poor kids. Apparently they were really freaked out and saw the body quite close-up (although how this ties in with the report they didn't know what it was I'm not sure... ). They were on holiday though, i think it's so sad.

Man thats nasty...that would seriously freak me out.

Because i work in a hospital and sometimes have to collect laundary from the morg i have seen a couple corpses and its always so strange...the guys that work there are a bit weird as well, they always look really guilty about something, i wouldnt put it past them to be up to something pretty sick indeed.

Its one thing seeing a dead body that has died the fairly recently but one thats been in the water for days must be pretty bad, they bloat out and all sorts...gives me the heebs just thinking about it.

I had something similar happen to me when I was a kid.

I kept seeing, in my mind, the featureless face which had been pecked at by fish :?

ugh yeah, i never thought about it getting bloated.

see i kind of imagine seeing one early in the morning or late at night, but midday on a family beach just seems so creepy in a completely different way...

i have never seen a corpse. I've been really sheltered to illness and death.. I'm thinkin i should work at the hospital as well, to toughen up a bit.

ugh pat... please stop...

i wish i hadn't started this.. i'm way too squemish to handle the replies.
I saw a dead fish once... I went to go to the loo when I was about 7, and my dad had forgotten to flush away a dead fish he put in there. It freaked me out, went all shivery and cold.

Pat - you have my respect.

I've got a real thing about dead fish, they freak me out.

Iomarti maybe its not the best idea you work in a hospital!!

You get to see some pretty nasty things, as well as seeing the f**cking s**ty side of humanity too, some things that people do to one another is so unbelievably terrifyingly cruel and disgusting...

Its not all bad though you get to give bed baths and change piss bags!

Mmmmmmmm........that's the sort of 'joke' I would play :?

No.....I wouldnt, cos I would never do a job that involves dead bodies :?

Iomarti......I think to get a job in a morgue you would have to be into it and I'm sure you'd be able to find out if you really wanted to :?

i have a snake and she eats rats (pre-killed), and if i give her one and she doesnt eat it for some reason even after less than a day they get pretty minging (and really stink). If that body had been in the water for a while then it would be a bit of a mess, not something you would want to encounter and im not that suprised that the kids didnt know what it was.

They dont advertise for the jobs external to the hopsital because its just like a big adverstisement for weirdos and phyco's, most of them come from funeral homes, or were nurses or even janitors, basically they only take people who work in the hospital and want to change departments... you dont need any qualifications to work there.

you really want to know? well i took mine to an expert to be sexed, but what they basically do is shove a probe up the snakes ass and they can tell the sex by how far it goes or something (well you asked).
