This was on Sat. 6/17 at Malibu's in Maryland, USA.
Santa Cruz Surfboards showed up and let people ride there various new shapes for '06 (they're Epoxy).
It was pretty fun. Waves were about waist high and pretty clean.
A little perspective on were I'm coming from:
My one and only shortboard I've ever had is a 6'6" swallow tail. I'm not a great surfer or anything, but I do alright (and I'm getting better). I can catch waves, pop-up, make the drop, turn and what not. So, I can't comment too much on the surfboards I tried...
I got to try out a 6'4" fish (Knot series) that worked pretty well for me. It had good acceleration on the takeoff and pretty snappy turns.
I also tried a 6'2" rounded pintail (Pumpkin Seed series). This was deffinatly more difficult for me, but I still managed to catch some wave. It also had good acceleration on the takeoff and turns were a lot smoother.
I was just so stoked that I was able to paddle around and catch was on those two boards; especially the 6'2".
All in all I got a couple of decent rides on each and I definatly liked the boards (it was cool to find out I could handle something smaller than what I'm used to).
Just a fun day overall.
