How do you deal with surf rash.....

Postby bgdkmetzger2003 » Wed Jun 07, 2006 5:44 am

right now my nipples are ready to peel off, so im wearing a rash gaurd under a surf jacket. the backs of my legs look like i have poison oak, so I wear two pairs of mesh shorts (one wasnt enough) under my board shorts. anyone else have some interesting input about surf rashes and how to deal with them :)

Put generous amount of vaseline on the sore areas. That should help.

Lycra.

If it hurts put liberal vaseline on it. Then lycra. Then whatever you normally wear.

The guys in the surfshops over here that I actually know surf swear by it too.

Works a treat for me - hence bike pants under boardies :D

ITs a bugger when a normally good fitting suit for some reason shifts during a session and rubs just that little bit to make it a nightmare for every session after that... Other than whats been allready said (yep they work a treat!) then you have to sit out untill they've healed.

You could always wear those "jammer" swim suits that seem to have gained in popularity over the last 10 or so years. They would probably be of better quality and last longer than bike shorts, especially the bike shorts with the added padding.

Only you could love a bloke who drinks cups of piss and jis.

As for the rash... either vaseline, Dr Palmers Cocoa Butter or natural yoghurt - cools everything down much quicker.
