Don't have to be good at all. Just get some uber soft wheels to compensate for the poor roads. I have some 72a 75mm Avilas that will roll over everything.

ye, and the bigger the better for rough stuff, with some nice big wheels you can cruise up and over paving slabs and bumps that regular skaters have to ollie up.
there are also plenty of carveboard type setups ranging from longboards all the way up to full off-road mountain boards with buggy tyres, and ive even seen one invention which has bmx type wheels and tyres, that should get you going on pretty much any road no matter how bad. But bear in mind, the rougher thsurface- the worse the road rash when you bail ;)

Hey all. I have always been curious about these longboards. I mean ive seen a lot of people in uni carrying them around and thought "what the hell is that"? Ive seen them being advertised in surf mags, and I was just wondering what they are like to ride? Are they really good for enhancing your surfing skills? Are they like riding skateboards? I dont know anything about them really.
I feel left out now lol, and if they make you surf better then I would contemplate getting one cheap maybe.

dont get a cheap one, get a good one. theres a shop in swansea which stocks gravity boards, theyre about the best youll get for a complete setup without going mail order. or take a look on lushlongboards.com, some of the best boards you could own and made in the uk.

Ive had a quick shifty around the web and think i might of found a board. What do you peeps think about:
http://www.lushlongboards.com/06-conten ... bcat=SAMBA

It is rated up to 13 stone bit im 13.5stones and will the wheels be big enough to rip on roughish tarmac with loose stoneage to navigate in places?

Where abouts is that shop in swansea as it might be worth a visit?

Very true........

Except I've got 2 plates and 14 screws holding my leg together.....

And I remember the pain I had to go through to get these trophies :(

I went out on my skateboard for the first time in.... many.... years at the weekend...

Good grief, it used to be so easy when I was 5ft tall and 8stone...

Now I seem to do 'lumbering oaf' very well :?

My knees and elbows are still intact which surprised me though. Thinking about a mountain board now... :D

that board looks nice, in the photo its wearing 80a wheels tho, if you order it you might want to ask for the softer 74a wheels for carving. If you want to learn to do slides on it (which you might well do) keep the 80a wheels tho.
