Welcome to the summer - Roll on autumn

Postby drowningbitbybit » Wed May 31, 2006 12:26 pm

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome at last to summer 2006.
Get the suntan lotion out, the speedos on, the lilo pumped up :D

....But put the surfboard away, hang up the wettie, uncoil your leash :(

That's depressing. And I was hoping for a fairly lengthy surf trip starting this weekend....

I feel so depressed. Finally finished Uni and all exams except for 1, now ive got 3 months of it being flat!! Whenever it gets good youve always got something on and cant go, and when you are free its always flat!!

I havent even had the chance to use my new summer wetsuit. What was I thinking :(

i know it must be a gutter for you guys .. i know me and my bud will ride any mushed flat or blown out rubbish and still get a lift from it cause we dont know any better but i guess it must bite when you understand the charts and all you see is wobbler waves ... well ive got a summer fun suggestion for the flat days !! ...
Halfords are selling inflatable jetski's !! ..yep ...inflatable !?! ... for £99 you get a toughened blow up jetski with proper handlebars etc and a big'ol strap-on motor that hangs underneath the craft ...ok so maybe no earth shattering thrill but what fun for drive by soakings in the shallows and jousting contests etc etc ..im so damn tempted to buy one

That's not even wobbler waves - thats just plain flat! :(
Might be a tiny swell from that dinky little low pressure out there at the best spots... but probably not...

yeah, no regular groundswell, but we never got them anyways....

welcome hurricane season!!! :D :D

I think this year is gonna be really active too, because it was last year, and we had a very mild winter, and its 95 now and for the last 2 days, and for the next 4.

i'm with you here Cheezee, as a beginner, i just like being in the water and surfing whatever...

You know what though - I've been surfing for about 16/17 years and I still get that stokeface on crappy mushy summer slop.

Admittedly - I get a much bigger grin the better the waves but sometime it's all about just being out in the sea, with a few mates and making the most of what you have.

Sadly this weekend looks flat as a bloody pancake though....

Guess the best bet will be to decide which board would be best suited to surf the wake of CheeZee's Halfords inflatable jet-ski. Texas oil tankers? PAH!

hmm theres something about an inflatable jet skii that just gets me. Especially for £99. It probably aint that powerful and if you think you could use it for towing surfing - I doubt it would be strong enough.

Dont know about the next three months, but there's certainly no end in sight to the flat spell at the moment. Its getting EVEN FLATTER!! :(

Anyone planning a surf trip in the next week in the UK - forget it

(unless you fancy a paddle in the far far north of scotland)

I heard Ireland is the only place working at the moment in the UK. Its not looking good, it could be flat for a long time! Althought last summer it was flat a lot but there was some good days and I had some of the best surfs ever. Just got to be patient.

Um.... Ireland isnt in the UK....

But ignoring that - yeah, you'll need to be right up in north scotland or the north west of ireland to get a wave and even thats gonna be pretty small. Better than the total flatness we got in the UK though! :?
