Buying wetsuits

Postby Stone Fox » Mon May 08, 2006 2:42 pm

I keep seeing really cheap wetsuits on ebay, but I'm never sure what size I need, there was a table somewhere about how tall / fat you are and what wetsuit sizes you needed from different manufacturers.

Anyone remember where it is?

unless you know that a particular size/model fits you its really not worth scrimping. A good fitting wetsuit makes the difference what ever time of year.

sure go out and try on the models you see on ebay in the shops (if you can) then you'll know if its going to be a good fit or not.

If your anythign like me finding a good suit is differcult, why they assume anyone who is tall is also fat or has the chest of hulk hogan is beyond me.

if you do buy a second hand wet suit wash it atleast 2 times befor you wear it. it gets pretty cold out their, and well any chance of warmth, you take it.

i got a good winter suit cos thats when you need it - new but from 2 seasons ago (old stock) from some online place (wetsuit wharehouse or something?). Summer suit is not so important (hardly any surf here in summer) so i got one of those £25 shorties from the supermarket, doesnt exactly give the cool surfer image but im not fussed about that sort of thing.

Shell out the cash ....... my choice would have to be the Ripcurl Bomb or the billabong zipperless gold solution ..both of which Im looking to trade upto as my Mid range O'neil steamer has lasted just 1 yr of getting hammered , already the seam near the ankle has given out and round the rear neck joint has given out ...

I wouldn't bother wasting money on a 2nd hand wetsuit. You wouldn't really know what you are getting. Dont buy a wetsuit online unless you have tried that suit on before and know your size.

found the place i used - http://www.wetsuitoutlet.co.uk

they seem to still have some cheap deals on older suits, now is the best time to buy a winter suit as the shops are getting rid of this seasons stock to make way for summer suits and next seasons winter suits.
