Funboard or mini-mal should be great get one thats 7ft plus (at the absolute least) and get one thats pretty wide because it easier to catch waves!
Have fun

Round nose too...

Call up a few surf shops and tell them what you are looking for. If they have something they will probably hold it for you, so you can go check it out.

Can I just ask, I don't want to sound like a complete idiot but what is the difference between a Mini-mal and a funboard? As my board was a gift and I thought it was a mini-mal but have seen pictures of boards looking very similar but being described as funboards.... :?

mini mal is a mini longboard or "mal" whereas a funboard is a hybrid between mini mal and a shortboard.

basically a mal is about 7' to 8' in length with a rounded nose. a funboard is similar in length proobably a bit shorter with a slightly more pointed nose but not as pointy as a shortboard.

makes sense? i hope so

Hi Roxy!

What kinds of boards have you been riding? Or what kinds have your surf mates been riding?

That might be one place to start.. are you thinking of purchasing? Learning? Going Pro??

Which style of riding attracts you the most so far? Longboarding or shortboarding or a mix of both?

Do you have any helpful surf shops or surf instructors near abouts... or a phone call away that you can ask? They might be useful. Some are hot too. A nice bonus!
