Yeh like Brent said, we're staying together till I graduate then i'm emigrating, getting residency, doing my masters over here and living happily ever after.

Or something like that :?

Until him indoors does his geneaology thing and discovers that you're related ;)

Kidding. BTW - to get the surfboard outta the bed... threaten to abstain from nocturnal pleasures - bet he'll have it in the boardbag quick smart ;)

Ha ha ha, actually i'd put money on it. We both have Scottish ancestors (I'm a Ross) and i've had relatives living in that part of the world for a long time so being distantly related is feasible I suppose.

Its OK though, from the village i'm from 'keeping it in the family' is the norm :?

actually most Anglo Saxons are far more deeply related than they realise. You only have to go back 5 generations or so from today to see most people married within their local community and indeed within horse-back ride scale distance from their homes. Marrying 1st cousins was pretty much taboo...but anybody else was ok.

It was written once by an Italian researcher that the invention of the Bicycle widened the envelope of likely partners in that country from about 600 meters to about 6 kilometers.

It is accepted the most inbred American family is the DuPonts. Hows this for webbed toes material...

Samuel F married cousin Sophie
Eurene married cousin Amelia
Irenee married cousin Irene
Charles I married cousin Mary Sophie
William K married cousin Elizabeth
T Colman married cousin Alice
William married cousin May
Henry B married cousin Eleuthera
Henry B Jr married cousin Emily
John Riegal married cousin Edith.

And all this in the last 200 years!!!!!! Keeps the wealth within the family.

From a strict geneaology perspective the most closed & in-bred community on earth is the population of Pitcairn Island. They're been interbreeding with 1st cousins for 150 years (that's 6-7 generations folks).

Brent... im somewhat disturbed by that lol.

Theres alot of it over here too, especially in St Ouen and St Mary. Im quite glad now that my Dads side of the family originates from France (my gran) and Cornwal (my grandad - although he had 11 brothers and sisters!!), and my mums family originates from Nottingham (gran) and Kettering (grandad).

Have found a hell of alot of ''missing'' family recently though, one through a music fansite that im on (sending christmas cards a couple of years ago, got asked for my surname and then turned out the girl is my cousin on my Dads side), and another 5 just a few weeks ago courtesy of the pub. We've been drinking in the same pub for years, and have spent years chatting to this couple - she turned round a few weeks ago looking for Graeme - turns out shes another cousin lol, so have now added her and her family (in Oz) to the list, plus the ones in england from the fansite.

My mums now got well into tracing the family history (which is very addictive) and has found close relatives on her side of the family (cousins and nieces) in New Zealand, Australia, England, theres one in Bali, and close relatives of my Dads in Australia... weve gone from a small family of about 15 to atleast 150, and we havent finished yet, still got 8 of my grandads (Dads side) brothers and (one) sister to find yet, so thats gotta add a good few more to the pile.

Now all I need to find out is if any of them are rich

Anyway... im off to get my plane now - see you all on Sunday once im all bopped out
