Right this is my area! :D

I'm assuming your in the UK...
www.atbmag.co.uk - wicked UK ATB publication

Info and a shop - http://www.atbsports.co.uk

Shops
www.atbshop.com
loads of others surch for them.. doesn't take much prices between the same boards accross the shops doesn't really vairy..

Centres - List all the main ride centres accross the uk...
www.maxtrack.com
www.ridethehill.co.uk

Ok.. as for the board... I'll say one main thing:
*****
Don't get a board with Monster Trucks... Channel Trucks all the way, they spring back supurbly for sharp turning, stability at speed and they take a hell of a bashing. Also easyer to grind on.
*****

Other thingsd to look for is the build, flex and the straps.
Stear clear of "exit" boards
MBS have done me proud over the past year excelent build and felx in the boards and are built with the option to add a break at a later date, but you dont need one, just master the powerslide stop and your sorted, it easy.
noSnow boards are for the snowboarder really, mainly cause of the flex and the straps (your bound in) personally I don't like them, very sloppy ride
Scrub - I havn't tried the new range yet but the old one I found to be quite stocky and unresponsive or the other extreme of uncontrolable!
quite a few other up and comming board makers but thats the main ones.

A mountain board is a mutant skateboard - it's a bit bigger and has big inflatable tyres for going off road. And foot bindings. You can use them for shooting down hills, being dragged along beaches by powerkites and after a certain amount of beer, skating down stairs.... They're great!
Also being towed around a field behind a car is 'a tiny bit like wakeboarding but not really' but it's fun!

Mongoose is just a make of mountainboard

Just Check out the websites in my post for locations of centres and what its all about etc...

If your going to be kiteboarding I would recoment the Keo boards rather than mongoose. I've found the mongoose board to be very stocky like the scrub boards.

The Keo range has some excelent board shaps to really dig in and stock the sideways sliding in strong winds

Hell yeah I've seen those before. When I lived out in small town po-dunk Missouri we had jack nothing to do. So once we found a regular skateboard with offroad tires on it alot like a Mountain Board. So we just tied a rope to my friends tail-hitch on his car, held onto the roap took to some gravel roads and tried our damndest not to kill ourselves, no pad no nothing, I don't think any one of us came out without some awesome road rash!!!!

250lb whats that in kg!?

how tall are you...

do a search for Mountainboards or All terrain boards (ATB) in your country only.

It will come up with a selection of online shops no doubt. As I've said the price of boards doesn't vary really from shop to shop so just look at all the reviews and perhaps visit a centre to try em out. then buy the board of your choice!
