I find that after ten or eleven pints the night before, a six scrambled egg breakfast is ideal

Dude, word of warning, 96.3% of all statistics are made up on the spot.
As for the Salmonella thing, that'll likely be a global statistic - you'd want local.

Also - COOKING AN EGG DOESN'T REMOVE THE PROTEIN. Like, Duh....? And one of the BEST sources of protein you'll get apart from eggs is fish.

Wanna up your protein intake? Red meat, Eggs (cooked you muppet!) and fish.

Yeah, but I doubt that the U.S. Department of Agriculture makes it's statistics up (at least not all of them! ).

Oh, and no, you're right, cooking an egg doesn't remove the protein, but it does [/i]deactivate most of the protiens in it. Egg protien is very easy to damage, which obviously means you don't get the nutritional benefits.

A boiled egg contains exactly the same, including the protein level, as a raw egg.

But as a source for protein it's excellent, no matter what way you like it.

Make way! Make way for the nutritional anthropologist! (well, student anyway).

Cooking eggs does indeed break down the longer protein molecules within them, it's that very heating process that makes the protein digestable. Eating raw eggs will only reduce the amounts of usable protein you take in and eventually make you very ill.

When training for rowing I tried a lot of these 'get big fast' diets. Your body is mind bogglingly efficient. It extracts the exact amount of nutrients from your food that you need in your daily routine. The same applies to building muscle, if you don't contstantly use them, you'll lose 'em.

If you really want to gain muscle and increase your performance seriously you need a carefully modelled diet and workout routine that you'll stick to. Necking raw poultry products just won't cut it. With no real idea of your build or BMR, I can only give generalised advice:

Slow release carbs are great up to an hour before a big session and fruit is always good as a quick means of boosting your blood sugar levels.

Straight after exercise, cooked meats, COOKED eggs and fish give you the protiens necessary for muscle repair and growth. Interestingly, cheddar cheese contains more protein than beef, but unless you're happy with the fat levels it's best to eat cheese in moderation. That and nobody wants to dream of their shoes eating them again....

If you're serious about bulking up, you want to be eating at least 30g of protein around 6 times a day. As mentioned earlier, this is best done through cooked meats, COOKED eggs, fish and nuts.

All weight training has long term neagive repercussions on your health. Swimming is great as it's a no-impact workout that uses every muscle group you've got. As a surfer you'll want to be in the water, it's your element anyway :)

It takes your body 24 hours to recover from physical exertion, this includes the all-essential muscle repair. If you work out more than this you'll only do yourself a mischief.

A nay-sayer I may well be, but at least I'm a bloody well read one

Thats actually pretty interesting!
I never knew that it takes 24hours for your body to recover. I usually surf everyday twice...I should probably stop!

Cooked, not raw is the outcome!

It's amazing what I can recall after a 5 week easter break filled with nowt but surfing.

Even more amazing is my complete inability to remember anything if placed within 400 yards of an exam paper. 'tis my kryptonite :)

All very good but I still gained 5 pounds off of the raw eggs and I know that's what did it because that's the only change I made with my diet. You are right when you say that you have to work out or you'll loose it. Muscle strength and size goes away quickly, maybe in as short as 2 weeks.

cause im a crazy guy. it really isnt necessarily to bulk up. its just a quick snack that keeps me full for a while.

and 150 is kind of light for 6'1.

Egg protein is great, but egg yolks have bad fats so eating too many is not so good, bodybuilders etc. tend to eat tons of egg whites but not so many yolks.
i take a whey protein shake with me when i go surfing and down it in one as soon as i get back to my car, tastes a hell of a lot better than eggs too.

I find Stella Artois a delicious and nutritious meal supplement - it's also readily available.
