Goofy

Postby Fartin » Sun Apr 02, 2006 11:14 pm

Watching some local heros surf a left today. Strange thing is, they were all goofy. Is there an advantage to surfing this way on a left? Or did they all come into town for a Goofy Convention?

Doesnt make a differnce if you are goofy or regular. Its just a matter of preferance just the same as writing left or right handed.

Yea I was there! Did you check out the free left footed wetties they were handing out at the convention dinner?

They got the switchfoot conference next week.

It might be a bit easier surfing a left break if you're a goof because you'll be front side to the wave and can see it, watch what's going on.

I don't know that It feels much different going left or right. I'm a goof, it is a bit easier learning to turn frontside than backside tho. I keep leaning and then falling. Maybe it's the longboard thing to, takes a bit to turn an ole hefty.

I don't know if many beaches have switchfoot waves tho. Aparently there aren't too many of those. Probably a few in Arizona. Sorry my goemetry's all jammed up.

Dude if your goofy the left is your break! Its just easier to rip when you are facing the wave.

when i 1st started surfing i always took the backside waves (a habit i got from bodyboarding) but now i can ride both frontside and backside, doesnt make a diffrence to me
i would advice anyone to practice going both ways and being just as good on a backside break

Front side riding is supposed to be easier - I can completely see why...

But I find the back hand so much more comfortable
