Biarritz its self stear clear off.. you want to be on the coast from Anglet (the next bay from biarritz) or the coast north of Bayone.which eventually passes hossiger.

Anglet surf mostly semi wedge waves off the rock revetments some really pokie waves for bodyboards :)
Heading north up the coast you will find much the same... but the waves are less interupted and dump heavy on the beachs... not for the beginner when in size.

As for women... their everywhere :p

Hossegor is the place to go, I usually try and spend a month there each september. Plenty of space to spread out when the crowds get up - also holds the mens and womens quicksilver pro at that time of year => great surf + great women + great surfers = prepare to be humbled!!

Makeable barels always seem to be on offer to those that can and there are loads of beaches so you can choose the type and size of wave you want to surf. Capbreton (just south of Hossegor) can reduce the size of a swell significantly and can even be surfed in storm conditions. Try out V.V.F. if you want to get a tube but be warned, it gets heavy and is very very fast when it is 6' plus - something not to be missed!

When it gets really big and all the zoom lenses and tripods are out on the beach - try body surfing the shorebreak in front of hossegor village - an experience to remember!

Have fun and respect the locals!!

VERY EXCITED about our upcoming trip to Hossegor. Flying into Biarritz. Where do we stay in the $60-$80 range?
