This summer.....

Postby blue_leopard » Sun Apr 02, 2006 1:02 pm

Heya!

I've never posted here before, but was hoping someone might have some advice?! :D

My best friend and I graduate this summer, and want to go somewhere for Late June/July and August that we could work and surf- more for the surf really as we were both bitten by the bug last summer and want to improve... not aiming to earn a fortune, but hopefully not come out of the summer in too much debt!!

We were thinking of going to California, as I have family in San Francisco who we could visit after... is that a good time to go there? Or are there other places you'd suggest (preferably where it's summer then!) to go?

Where would be the best place to go, and do you think we might be able to get any casual bar/ youth hostel or other work there for that time? (We're both English)

Although I've been travelling quite a lot before, as we are both girls safety is also a consideration- any places to avoid?

Thank you so much- any advice is welcome!!

Come to Phuket. Its really cheap here and if you guys are still relative learners its perfect, all beach breaks.

Also theres no need for wetsuits, only boardshorts and a board!

PM me for any more info

Australia maybe ...... 1 yr work visa for english peeps , hire a camper van buy 2 boards and just drive up the east coast surf , work( scratch that ) . Get some instruction where ever you head to. The water never gets below 17 north of sydney so with a steamer its comfortable..........

Cost of living is quite high in southern ca. the best bet would be to try to get a job at a summer camp, that way you can make money as well as have room and board, the only issue is that most of the camps out here are in the mountains, though a lot of universitys offer sport specific camps if you have skills in a specific sport.
