Stupid people + the sea.... *sigh*

Yet again I'm amazed at the stupidity of some people...

Was out working withthe National Trust on the north of Angelsey putting some some new gates and on the way back to the barns we come accross the Coastguard trying to get to the coastline.
He tells us that somone has been reported out of control and in destress between Porth Satwan and Cemlyn Bay (the most remote section of coastline) So we turn around and take him out there via the safest route as the grounds sodden and its a bugger to drive round this area.
We get out there and the RAF choppers allready on the case so we split up on foot in pairs to walk the coves and inlets. After not finding anything to the east we went back to the vechical and I drive back up to meet the coastguard on the high section of the cliffs to the west.

Holyhead lifeboat is also on the case by now as are two more coastguard vechicals. They have found what remains of the 9ft dingy with an electric motor washed in to the cliffs. So basically it was then a body search...

Now who the hell would go out in a 10ftplus sea swell with force 9 winds (30mph+) with the biggest tides of the year in the area with one of the fastest tidal races in the whole country in a dingy with a shitty electric motor...

Weve got signs up at all our local beaches (St Ouens Bay has them at every set of steps down to the beach and every slipway) warning people about the tide and rips, yet still we get atleast one person a year die because they've been careless and not taken any notice.

I dont think people will ever learn how dangerous the sea can be, no matter how many ''tragedies'' there are

People can survive pretty amazing stuff tho!

We had a local dude here in NZ.. rugby legend's bro.. survive in the sea for three days. He'd gone diving, had a accident. Only had his wetsuit on.

It was interesting to hear him report on the changes it made to his body, like, his body water slowly being replaced with sea water, and he said he had flesh rotting from the inside. You could see he was completely swelled up bloated and utterly burnt to smitherines.

Takin him a couple of months to recover.

What an amazing feat! :o

You're not supposed to be able to survive that long without water, food, sleep, playstation... Some people are just stubborn I guess.
