ever been to blue hawaii (kapahulu, but dont get repairs done there, they suck.) or surf n sea? their used boards are great.

no one wants guns. they suck. if youre going for a gun, BUY IT USED THIS SUMMER.

I will check out surf n sea. Hopefully I can get a cheap gun.

Why did you say guns are sucked? Many people in the North Shore use them. I think they are cool.

By the way, how's your cut in the back??? did you surf???

I went to the Shore North today to a place call Gas Chamber. The waves were small and sucked. My friend rented a epoxy shortboard 6'6 for $20 a day. It really could float very well and it was super light. I have no comment on epoxy board. I tend to like the orginal better.

My friend's board was cracked. It was ran over by a canoe on a wave. In Hawaii, there are always those heavy canoes catching waves with the surfers. Kinda dangerous.

I heard that there are human bones, teeth and broken surfboards at the bottom of Pipe. There are many holes between the reefs which can suck you in. And the water is so shallow that you can be a riding a 10 ft wave(hawaiian scales) with only about 1 ft of water above the reefs.

havent gone surfing. my back is ok, scabed over, but i havent gotten my board back yet.

its hasnt been that great around town anywyay or has it?

guns are silly, their good traits only come out in monster surf. unless youre planning on surfing monster waves, dont get one. even if you are, a shortboard will still work. hell, dont even waste a good board, unless youre a pro, if you go out in moster waves youre going to be dead either way, so give your board to me instead and jump off the pali. i learned on a gun... i ended up wishing i had originally bought a shorter board, i didnt even know what a gun was. they are hard to turn and until you get used to it the narrowness is insane and you wobble. its like a shortboard that acts performs like a longboard when turning and duck diving and acts like a shortboard when it comes to difficulty in balance.

people buy guns because theyre easier to drop in with on a monster wave and they turn a little more..

Also, it's the extra length that gives them the paddling power they need to get up to speed with the wave to allow them to drop-in.

yeah see. im not that experienced so i dont know the details, but trust me, their good qualities dont come into real use until youre a pro on the monster waves. thats what guns are made for.

OK OK..conclusion to this thread..

You should only try Pipeline if you are a very good surfer, and know the break well.

2ndly, baldia is going to buy a gun and practice on smaller waves, untill he becomes better.

:D , just wanted to clear things up!
