sunday at surfside

Postby surferdude18 » Thu Mar 16, 2006 7:49 pm

ok i went to surfside last weekend here in texas. Talk about some good waves but i hear they were better Saturday, Anyways Sunday i went and the current was really bad and I was'nt paying attention and i got shoved it some pilings but the board was ok i tore up my hand a lil bit but the board was ok and on top of that there were 5ft waves slamming me at the same time and i was in waest deep water. 2 hours later i jumped from the jeties and caught this wave and some idiot was right there and woudnt move one fleshin' bit after i was in the wave. He saw me drop in on it and the speed i was going he had plenty of time to move and never did so i try to carve in a different diection but by then i was o close to him, so i bailed. my board was still being draged by the wave and ran over his and put a 6in gash on his 7'2 and probly 1in deep. Anyways i swam back to my board he started bitching at me because of his board. He started saying "people like me shouldnt be surf ing and i shouldnt be out there" and bla bla bla. I told him to get out of my fcking way because if a surfer catches a wave u want at least try to move, am i Right? anyways he started blaiming it all on me and he had enough time to move but he was in my fleshin' way and he wanted me to pay for the damages. I told him to fleshin' off. After that i surfed back to the beach trying to find him to aploigize for damaging his board that wasnt my fault because he didnt move one bit nor did he try to. The point of the story is did i do the right thing?????????????

Yes.

Etiquette says that once the surfer is on the wave, its up to the guy in the water to get out of his way.

Obviously if they cant, or you drop in right on them, then you have to go round them. But if you're on the face and they're paddling/sitting on the board, they should paddle out of your way.
