Hi. Im planning to visit Panama pacific side this season. My girlfriend is from Bocas del Toro so I know the Caribbean side but facing the pacific coast I´m totally blind. So these are my questions:
Where are the best spots on the pacific?
Is it posible to go by your own to surf those spots or it is necessary to join to one of those polemic surf camps? I have got plenty time for this trip.
I will fully apreciate all the information you send
thanks and keep surfing!!

If you have a car and plenty of time, you are in for a treat. The most popular place is Santa Catalina. It get's huge from time to time, and it breaks on reef. Also, there is a spot some 2k north of there. Punta rocas or something.

South of David I managed to find a decent spot, but I have no idea what it is called.

I also went to Peninzula de Auero. There are planty of places to surf all along the coast. Uncrowded. The spots are not even on the map at wannasurf.com.

Don't rely on buying any gear (surfgear) in Panama, unless you are going to Panama city. Bring booties.

Las Lajas: Nice little setup on the beach, but don't go there for the waves as they are xxxxx.
