how old did u guys started surfing?

started last summer at the age of 18. Have always wanted to surf just didnt have the money for a board, but i really got into it from last summer and have loved everyday since, I think ive learned so much from books and the forum - i just love surfing and its something that I wanna do for the rest of my life. If I can go surfing once a week then I will feel like ive lived a good life.

when i started my apprentachip my boss went surfing after work down phillip island so i decided to give it a go. i would've been 16 maybe, now his spewin coz im always takin days off at winki pop

.....started this year at 43!!....obsessed in a nice way....have always tried to follow my instincts...packed in working at the steelworks in Sheffield when I was 19 and gave music a good crack....played guitar /piano from the age of 6....played in bands for the next 20 years no big success but played in England and through Europe did MTV and stuff....never made a bean!!!....then had always been into V-Dubs and got my restoration qualification and opened a bodyshop in Sheffield...I was always driving to one coast or another (usually Newquay in the Summer) in a knackered Splitty van....always watched the surf and surfers and when we moved down here to S.Wales able to finally had a crack at it...I can say if I'd tried it earlier my life probably would have been different but I just find it perfect for me now!!!....I know I'll always live near the coast from now on...would love to be one of the proper old dudes longboarding away in my 60's.....how cool!!!....this site and others like it help massively too with tips n chat with other friendly peeps of all ages and races....only surfing brings people together like this and fortunately seems to attract like minded people too....Ive met some top people down here in Wales of all ages and its so cool we can all hang out together!!!....

I´m 22 and started 4 days ago.

It has been 6 months since I´ve wanted to start surfing.

I´ve always liked to swim, and did it since I was 7 years old. I also love the sea.

So, swimming + sea = Surfing.

And its great to be able to see the sea from above, and be in the middle of it alone and hear nothing but the sound of the wind and water flowing.
