Wintertime swells are better - discuss.

Dunno how the rest of the country or world is fairing but right here on the uk east coast this winter sucks ass big style :x .
I haven't been surfing for over 2 months now, and I've only missed 2 very average sessions due to work.
There is nothing even brewing for the forseable either.

It used to be the thing everyone always said - "Can't wait til the winter swells kick in, then we'll get some reall power".

To be honest here at least the waves are probs better in summer :? .

i dont know about this one you're definately right for our east coast, ive only one session over winter partly due to work but partly due to there being nothing worth missing it for. on the other hand the week i was in cornwall in october there was swell every day. also there was that big swell for the southwest over the weekend of the 15th and 16th of october for the south west. plus a couple more since if im not mistaken

equally last summer i remember about 3 consecutive weekends where i got some decent surf on the east coast whereas the week in the southwest i spent was a but flat.

i think it could just be a bad year for the east coast with not a lot going on. i think it might be something to do with where the jetstream takes the low pressures and such but im not sure.

either way i think this winter has indeed sucked but it will balance out either over the summer or next winter will rock!

it will always be cold though

the US east coast is crappy as anything. I dunno what the deal is. north and south of me is getting a little, but still, not the winter-time power that keeps everyone in tune. we had a great hurricane season, maybe this is just our karma kicking in...

South coast pretty much only works on winter swells :?

There's the odd okay swell in autumn and spring, but they're few and far between!

Although Ive not seen much on the south coast so far this year either!

That's upsetting....

Earlier in the week there was a small depression towards the south west of the UK which looked like it might shape up for a small, fun wave at the weekend on the south coast :D

...But showing an utter lack of commitment to surfers, it's faded away to nothing so it looks like its gonna be flat :(

Looks like the mountain bike will be coming out instead... again!

its absolutely crap here in Aberystwyth/Borth

Any the swells we have been getting have all come in the middle of the week. Do to work and no light before or after; I've missed them all :x
Then there were to swells on the weekend. Due to the fact that I havn't been out much and they were pretty big; I couldn't make it outside. :x :x

Now it's starting to stay light a little after work, so I hopefully won't miss the next one that's in my range.
