Very hard to tell from those photo's. Is that mark on the front right a graphic or a repair?

Resolution isnt high enough to show minor/pressure dinks. Stringer doesnt look that straight to me (wobbly) which may imply depresions etc but it may just be wax/photography.

Good point guys, didnt even see that on the top right!!

It looks more like a repair than a graphic???

I've looked down at all the surf shops in Torquay (Bells Beach) and didnt find anything second hand anywhere near as good as this, for the price

Maybe i shouldnt rush into it....

Well i decided not to get it, just because of the fact i couldnt inspect it in person first!!! And that mark on the top right looks more like a repair to me than a graphic...

Looks like its back to shopping around for me :)

Thanks again guys

Yeah - it's the photograph. The low resolution is making it look wobbly.

Matty, it's impossible to tell how a board is going to perform from a photograph. You can get an 'idea', but that's all it is.
It's difficult enough when you actually have it in your hand (that's why talking to a shaper is so valuable).
Whether it looks brand new, or not, will have no bearing on how well it surfs.

It's gonna be a gamble, mate.

My advice is: go & talk to a shaper/good surf shop. Pretend that you're going to place an order. Take all their advice about what you should buy (for your weight & ability) - THEN try & find a 2nd hand one that fits that description.

All the best!

Thankss Glider, good advice!!!

I'm only fairly new to surfing, have only really used a big foam board and can get up with ease on that board. I want to now take the next step to something smaller.

My best mate last weekend bought the new DHD board which just came out here in melb. 6'8 19 ½ wide & 2 5/8 thick.

I was out surfing on this board for a few hours, got up about 3 or 4 times, only caught 1 decent wave all the way in... was a bit wobbly on the feet though hehe

If at my first go i could stand up on this board and catch a wave, i think it'll be a perfect size for me, thats why i'm looking into something about that size, or a tad bigger

What height & weight are you? And how often do you think you'll be going surfing?

Oh sorry, now that a few of my mates have got surf boards, we'd probably go once a week, maybe once a fortnight!!!

Its just over an hour drive for us to get down to Torquay.. Wish it was in my backyard haha

Your mate's DHD specs sound like they'd be ok for you to learn on. Don't worry about a brand name, coz it will be a while before you notice the subtle differences.
Although, maybe a Mccoy nugget would be a blast for you (?) - expensive tho', especially for your first board.

A board that size will be a bit wobbly for you, but if you go often enough, you'll soon start getting waves.

If you're not going to surf that regularily, get a minimal - they're wicked.

Yeah his DHD was a little wobbly those times i did get up hehe alot different to standing up on a bit foam board!!

But i see it if i can get up a few times on my first time on a short board, then theres only room for improvement... And maybe thats a perfect size for me to improve on...

One thing i'm struggling with is getting OUT past the breakers lol that takes so much out of me haha i'm yet to get out past them and wait for a decent wave!! Only been catching ones breaking in a little closer...

My Duck Diving needs alot of practice lol

Minimal's etc for some reason don't interest me too much, mainly cos i own a sedan and want to just throw the board in the boot with the back seat down, less hassle!!
