Custard Point surfboards - any good?

Postby IdRatherBeSurfing » Wed Jan 18, 2006 3:33 pm

Am not having a whole lot of fun with the shortboard lately; so am thinking of upgrading to a funboard or something.

http://www.custardpoint.com/ found these guys on the web and they seem to have some nice boards for under the £300 range.

Whats a fish like to ride? Any good for a wobbler to learn on??

Wobblier than a shortboard!

You'd generally ride a fish 6" shorter than your normal short board choice, but they make up for it with volume. But they're very loose, not suitable for a wobbler :?

Some people get on with them better than a shortboard (me, for instance) but if you're still learning then a fish isnt the best idea. Go with the funboard for the time-being :D

I've got couple of mates who used to swear by Custard Point boards. You could do worse.

I have a friend who brought over 5 custard point boards from the UK(to NZ) all longboards of various styles.

He and a lot of other people recon Tim is the best shaper in Europe.

You'll struggle to duckdive either :?

Not impossible, but not easy either.

i've got a custard point 7ft6 with tripple stringer and wooden nose and tail blocks, looks awesome but it does tend to take alot of work to keep it going in small waves than other mini malls i've tried, dn't know if its the board or me not using it right!
...probable me!

Take a look at Circle One. My OH ordered me a new one from beachshack.co.uk. It arrived straight from the manufacturers in less than 24 hours and I got a great deal including bag, leash and wax, all for the rrp of the board only.
Highly recommended in respect of board and the supplier. A mini mal at about the 7ft 3 mark would be under £300 for a non-pop-out, epoxy custom.
