Shark attacks caused by shark cage diving

Postby daisy25 » Sat Jan 14, 2006 6:30 am

Hi guys,
Just heard a theory that the reason there are so many shrak attacks in South Africa is due to the amount of shark cage diving going on. I reckon there might be some truth in this. It makes sense anyway - the operators throw a huge block of food in the water beside the cage and the shark associates feasting with humans.

Any thoughts?

Yep, Chumming is becoming a nightmare, esp off the coasts of the west Africa.
Unfortunatly there is no regulatory body to stop people taking out tourists on boat s and attracting in sharks of all species by throwing over blood and fish bits. Its similar to the problem occuring in the inner plains where tourbusses are disturbing the wildlife by driving so close and off the permitted tracks.

The association the sharksare making is overruling their natural fear of humans and thus attracting them closer to the shore.
